The Curse of Roger Daltrey’s Mummy

If it doesn’t look like a duck, or quack like a duck, then the chances are it isn’t a duck. By the same logic, if you don’t make your living as a writer, then you most certainly aren’t one, regardless of how much you may want to be. That doesn’t stop you from aspiring to be a writer. It simply means you cannot call yourself a writer right now.

Here’s the thing. Just because someone self-publishes a few dodgy poems doesn’t mean they can justify calling themselves a poet or a writer. That would be like me calling myself a film director because I made a couple of crappy animated movies and posted them on You Tube, of which this is one:Don’t know who Roger Daltrey is? Google him.

It’s fairly obvious the quality of this video is atrocious but it’s no worse than the quality of nearly all self-published poetry and prose fiction. Then again, like I said, I don’t present myself to others as a film director.
